Cost functions for resources allocations in a radio packet communication network

Optimisation of resource allocation mechanisms involved in MAC layer is an important aspect if new radio mobile communication networks. In this paper a mathematical commission for this problem is proposed. An continued set of solutions of allocations to be scanned at each decision time of allocation is considered. Hence, the commission requires for this periodical scanning the introduction of a cost function that can evaluate, for each user of the system, the gap between the number of requested resources and the number of allocated ones. This cost function must reflect different criteria of Quality of Service of the users. Therefore its definition, by terms of contents, must be continued, just as the relative weights of its contents. In order to give elements of comparison for more elaborated cost functions, this paper proposed three simple cost functions and focuses on their effects on the Quality of Service of the transmission.
