Development of a ship maneuvering simulator to make maneuvering plan

This paper proposed to use a ship maneuvering simulator as a support system of making maneuvering plan for third grade pilots who had not enough ship´s maneuvering experience. The ship maneuvering simulator which could simulate berthing ship with mobile PC was developed in this study. And new technique to estimate parameters of ship´s motion model from basic ship´s information was developed. As a result, the third grade pilot could simulate berthing ship with the arbitrary ship. The effectiveness of developed system was described with experimental results.
