Abstract :
Summary form only given. Needs for convenient but high-performance magnetic shields are found in many areas such as calibration of magnetometers, rock magnetism measurements, cooling high-Tc superconductors in zero magnetic field and so on. Cylindrical magnetic shields made of Permalloy are commonly used for the above, however, they have to be handled carefully not to give them stresses because their shielding performance is easily deteriorated by stresses and may become heavy when large shielding factor is needed. In this paper, we present a handy type cylindrical magnetic shield suitable for laboratory use, which is made of amorphous ribbons of zero magnetostriction, hence free from stresses, with magnetic shaking (MS) enhancement.
