Abstract :
A graphical analysis of the NICOLET B3 model for predicting lettuce growth has been carried out. Data were taken from an experiment that took place in the southeastern region of Coahuila state, Mexico. The importance of this analysis stems from the fact that knowing the model behavior will allow us to verify the model applicability in extreme conditions, in other words, the range of model performance. A graphical analysis was chosen because, due to the model complexity, it is not possible to analyze it using traditional algebraic methods. An input variation analysis was also considered in order to gain insight into the model. The NICOLET B3 model possesses two state variables: vacuole carbon content and structure carbon content. Crop growth is directly related to carbon content. The results show that vacuole carbon content depends on structure carbon content, moreover, it is obtained that temperature have the greatest impact on model
