Abstract
Remote collaboration becomes increasingly important and common in designers´ working routine. This paper presents a computer-mediated remote collaborative design system to enhance the distributed cognition through the combination of telepresence technology and virtualized reality. It could afford a high level externalization of shared resources to support mutual awareness and distributed cognition. Common ground, social capitals, perspective invariance, trust, and spatial faithfulness are the key issues this system is designed to address.
