Abstract :
The SRM has gained huge popularity in the recent years with the development of new design schemes. The design emphasis has always been to increase the saliency ratio for SRM which is the key feature for its improved performance. In the present study, a multiple-flux barrier rotor SRM was modeled in Quickfield software. An optimized rotor design has been obtained considering the flux barrier width and position taking into account the effect of the air-gap. The finite element analysis has been used to obtain performance characteristics of the desired motor. Finite element analysis is more accurate because the saturation effect is also considered along the direction of direct and quadrature axis.
