Abstract :
Content-based coding is the important feature of MPEG-4. This paper provides a detailed description of a binary shape coding method using modified modified modified READ (modified MMR), which is to realize content-based coding for arbitrary shape objects. The main features of this method are: (1) MMR coding is modified for creating macroblock-based coding, (2) inter-frame correlation is utilized, (3) lossy coding is enabled. Simulation results for several sequences show that this method is very effective for binary shape coding
