Abstract :
This paper describes the application of conservation voltage reduction on one of the main substations supplying power to residential and office buildings. The paper describes the initial engineering evaluation and selection criteria based on the load size, power flow and the voltage profile. The paper illustrates, in detail, the measurement of the power consumptions, MW, MVARs and power factor at optimized voltage levels. The conserved energy and the anticipated savings are presented as well. The measurement results show that up to a 3% savings in energy can be achieved using this method at no cost.
