Abstract :
Time reversal (TR) technique, due to its spatial and temporal focusing properties, is proven to be very useful in underwater acoustic communication where the channel is characterized by rich multipath structure. Multiple TR (MTR) precoder, a cascade of several TR pre-filters, provides significant improvement in signal to noise ratio (SNR) of a matched filter receiver though increases delay spread. In this paper, we study the performance of a matched filter receiver in terms of bit error rate (BER) with multiple TR pre-filters in cascade at the transmitter. We quantify the number of pre-filters required to minimize the BER for a given SNR at a particular data rate.
