Abstract
This paper presents a new hybrid analytical modeling (HAM) approach, used for the pre-design of electrical machines. The HAM approach is based on a strong coupling of magnetic equivalent circuits (MEC) method and an analytical solution of the magnetic field method. The analytical model (AM), based on the formal solution of Maxwell´s equations, is established in regions of low permeabilities thanks to the separation of variables technique. To show the capabilities offered by this new modeling approach, a flux switching permanent magnet machine is chosen as a case study. The developed model is validated by comparing performance for a machine modeled with this hybrid analytical model (HAM) and the finite element method (FEM).
