Abstract :
The paper presents a design approach based on extremum seeking for minimum power demand of formation flight of unmanned aerial vehicle. In close formation the wing UAV motion is affected by the vortex of the adjacent lead UAV. The forces produce by these vortices are complex functions of the relative position coordinates of the UAVs. An approach using extremum seeking can gain optimal formation flight and minimize power demand.
