  • Abstract
This paper presents a thermal model for the simulation of the stator winding temperature in short-time thermal transient. A practical application of the model is the overload thermal limit prediction in electrical drives. The proposed thermal model and its evolution is presented in detail in the paper; the thermal parameters computation, based on a physical representation of the stator components, are reported and discussed. The model has been validated using a full experimental approach on a 7.5 kW Total Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC) induction motor. Finally, thermal model analytical solution is presented.
