  • Abstract
This paper presents the insertion effects of dispersed generators connected with the middle point or end point of power restoration lines during power restoration after a blackout in South Korea. These distributed sources try to compensate for the shortage of electric power supply of black-start generators by inserting household loads or local loads during restoration process. These dispersed generators are the gas-turbine generators with power output capacity of 10 MW or 20 MW. The inserting effect of dispersed generators was tested on the seven subsystems of a power system in Korea. The power system of the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) is divided into power grids by seven subsystems. The power after a blackout was reenergized to the power restoration line (PRL) using a black-start generator (BSG). This restoration procedure had been done by restoration roles assigned by the KPX (Korea Power Exchange). The results of the analysis were simulated and illustrated by using the PSCAD/EMTDC tool, in which the additional power in a power system can be effectively added using the gas turbine generation system.
