Abstract :
Summary form only given. Eu/sub 1-x/Sr/sub x/MnO/sub 3/ series is scantly explored among manganites. This series is intriguing because unlike the other manganites, compounds with 0 /spl les/ x /spl les/ 0.5 are semiconductors and show ferromagnetic (FM) behaviour around x = 0.4. In this work we have studied magnetic, elastic, magnetoelastic, transport and magnetotransport properties of Eu/sub 0.55/Sr/sub 0.45/MnO/sub 3/ ceramic and have found the close relation between them. We find that Eu/sub 0.55/Sr/sub 0.45/MnO/sub 3/ is a heavily doped AFM semiconductor EuMnO/sub 3/ in which, as we propose, an inhomogeneous magnetic state is realized.
