Abstract :
This paper presents our work at the faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Aleppo where we developed a new embedded systems design lab which was the first of its kind in the faculty. The paper illustrates the plan that was followed to highlight the importance of embedded system design for the public, namely it will present Nawatt as an open- source e-learning project for embedded systems. Nawatt provides an Arabic reference for students and hobbyists to learn about microcontroller design and its applications. A detailed description of the locally built development boards and a series of lab experiments that were developed on these kits to teach the principles of embedded system design are given. Finally, a number of advanced projects are depicted as examples of the students´ experience in developing embedded systems.
