Abstract :
Two new delay capture models, introduced by Mun Geon Kyeong et al. (see Proc. ICUPC ´94, p.78, 1994 and Proc. ICCS ´94, p.384, 1994), alternatives to the classical Davis and Gronemeyer (1980) delay capture model, are compared to each other in terms of the capture and channel throughput performance. A comparison between the capture performance for these three models is made, and the corresponding exact capture probability expressions are incorporated into system performance analyses to investigate the capture effect on the performance of proposed wireless networks (DS-SS slotted ALOHA random access). It is shown that the realization of optimum delay capture is possible with discrete time of arrival (TOA) randomization, and systems employing this capture model can sustain a throughput nearly equal to one packet per slot while maintaining excellent stability
