Abstract :
Wireless sensor network (WSN) applied in electrical equipment on-line monitoring of power grid is a new network technology to prevent electric power system from failures. It integrates cheap sensors and wireless communication to provide data sampling to the status of power line. High quality and reliability of power supply is one of the most significant tasks of the system, so security issue becomes the large-scale concern. This paper introduces the architecture of the power line monitoring system, analyses its weak in many resources, like cache space, computing ability and bandwidth, explains its security requirements of availability, data integrity, time synchronization, sensor location and authentication, and proposes some of the security goal for WSN. In the end, a security management scheme for the power line monitoring system is presented.
