Abstract :
The use of review boards on large hydro projects is now a common practice. They provide some assurance that the project layout and design is the optimum for the site. However, some developers are not aware of how Review Boards should be used, and the opportunities provided by the presence of the Board, to enhance the local engineering experience of both the developer and the consultant. Review Boards are rarely used on smaller hydro projects, primarily due to cost. However, a strong case can be made for Review Boards on smaller projects. This paper addresses several issues arising from the use of Review Boards, including liability, meeting organization and reporting.
