Abstract :
The need for a high-capacity residual ringing plant in large urban wire centers is demonstrated by examples of unexpected peak loads occurring in various special service circuits. The relationship between ringing generator capacity and distribution fuse coordination is discussed. Measurement techniques and examples of the actual connecting points in existing rotating and ferroresonant ringing plants widely used by the regional Bell Operating Companies are presented. A solution to the problem of providing adequate generator capacity to serve unexpected peak residual ringing loads is given by a description of a residual ringing plant utilizing high-capacity ferroresonant inverters combined with transfer and distribution facilities in a space-efficient single bay framework
