Abstract :
A `democratic´ load sharing principle is used to generate information on the state of each of the rectifiers paralleled in a DC telecommunications power plant. Failures of individual rectifiers can be recognized and certain appropriate measures can be taken without intervention of the supervision unit. This improves the overall reliability, simplifies the rectifier interface, and reduces the number of the tasks to be executed by the supervision unit. The proposed distribution of the system features between the rectifiers and the supervision unit enhances the efficiency of the system monitoring and control. Some system features which are being specified by certain users are discussed and shown to be obsolete. Their elimination contributes to an improved cost/performance ratio
