Abstract :
This paper proposes a 6-channel time division multiple access (TDMA)/time division duplex (TDD) system with a 4-Mbit/s air interface bit rate to enable 144 kbit/s 2B+D integrated systems digital networks (ISDN) data via each slot. This system uses a multi-pilot symbol aided frequency selective fading compensation technique that compensates for a maximum delay time of up to one symbol duration. In this method, the channel impulse response is measured by using three pilot symbols located at the beginning and end of each burst. The impulse response at the information symbols is obtained by interpolating the measured impulse response at the pilot symbols. The distortion caused by frequency selective fading is compensated for using these impulse responses. We demonstrated by computer simulation that the proposed method is useful for multimedia information transmissions in personal communications systems
