Abstract
The paper proposes a simulation-based handoff approach for low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks. The approach takes into account the random traffic demand of each connection and location of the connections. The model provides a framework whereby different design parameters, such as, among others, available bandwidth, packet delay, handoff process, and the traffic loads of LEO satellite systems can be investigated in its entirety.
