Abstract :
The technology to discharge an online string of battery cells was described by the author (see ibid., p.138-140, 1990) and by M. Walpow (see ibid., p.551-2, 1990). A brief description of both papers is repeated as background information. The technology described, allows for the online discharge test of a battery string without either endangering in anyway the served systems operation, or disconnecting the string being tested from the load it serves as an emergency back-up source
