  • Abstract
    Transmission line capabilities are limited because of voltage, stability, and thermal limitations. FACTS solutions are generally applicable for the first two limitations and are economical for high capacity EHV lines. Real time thermal monitoring systems complement FACTS technologies by allowing a much lower cost solution for thermally limiting circuits, especially at HV levels. There is a broad range of applications for which real time thermal ratings are ideally suited.
