  • Abstract
Intravenous infusions has been an inevitable part of medical therapeutics till date. Although trivial, the importance of monitoring the process calls for special attention. Manuel monitoring of large number of patients is obviously a stressful factor for medical personals. This paper brings forth a system designed to meet both patient and nurses´ supplications. Our system is an efficient, safe and cost effective method to monitor and prevent blood backflow in IV tubes, especially to be used in neonatal sections. This system design includes components like IR sensor (MOC 7811), microcontroller2051, and voice module. The system is easy to be implemented in small clinics also, since it is cost effective, as well as with infants to reduce pain and loss of blood.
