Abstract :
Summary form only given. The structure and magnetic behavior were studied in nanoparticles CosoC50g ranular alloys. The structural evolution during mechanical alloying was examined by EXAFS and XRD analysis. With increasing processing time, Co and C phases became weaker and finally disappeared. The structural analysis of EXAFS and XRD indicates that the milled powder has been changed from just mixed powder of Co and C to a new material of Co-C. The grain size were estimated about 15 nm from the broadening of XRD peaks. The significant local structural change shows that the dominant materials were shifted from Co matrix to Co-C system.
