Abstract
A simple adaptive notch filter with infinite impulse response (IIR) is developed for eliminating power frequency interference in power line carrier communication. The adaptive IIR notch filter has a minimal number of adjustable coefficients and can be realized easily in real-time processing. The performance function of the notch filter is unimodal for a single interference frequency from a broad-band signal, and gradient-based algorithms are used. For several interference frequencies the cascade with the single structure is realized two or more times. Experimental results demonstrate its performance
