  • Abstract
Summary form only given. Axial flux permanent magnet synchronous machine (AFPMSM) is more and more used these last years. These machines offer a better power to weight ratio and a lower cost. Furthermore their flat and compact shape is very adequate for several applications. The calculation of the air-gap magnetic field is a determinant stage to predict performance and behaviour of a machine. The finite elements method (EM) is the most accurate one, however it is very heavy and does not supply indication on the geometrical parameters influence. For this reason , analytical methods are more adequate. They differ as to their complexity and level of accuracy. These analytical methods are based on two approaches, the magneto-motive force (MMF) by permeance product and the resolution of the Maxwell equations. This last method is the best one because it provides all three magnetic field components. In this paper, an exact 3D analytical solution of magnetic field in AFPMSM air-gap is presented. This method is based on the analytical resolution of Maxwell equations. The solution form obtained allows rapid parametric studies of magnetic field relative to variation of permanent magnets distribution and stator magnetic circuit.
