Abstract :
Exact and new formulas are obtained for calculating the bit error rate (BER) performance of digital microcellular radio systems employing maximal ratio combining (MRC) diversity in an environment with additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), correlated cochannel interferers, Rician fading and lognormal shadowing using DPSK/NCFSK modulations. The performance gain due to diversity order is shown and compared with the reduction by the presence of correlated shadowing introduced by the desired signal and the cochannel interferers. Effects of bit energy to noise power density Eb/N0, number of diversity branches, correlation coefficient, shadow spread and Rice factor of the desired signal were investigated
