Abstract :
This paper presents the current status of Turkey´s electricity power sector, efforts for introducing competition in the Turkey´s power industry, and concerns with the restructuring in Turkey. The paper discusses social and technical problems that the Turkey´s power industry is facing during the transition from monopoly to a competitive market. Recommendations are provided in the paper for achieving some of the objectives in electricity reforms.
