Abstract :
The gas sensitivity of sputtered aluminum-doped zinc oxide (ZnO:Al) thin film for various gases, the odor from sea foods, and the fragrance from wine and coffee has been investigated in order to develop a cheap smell sensor capable of detecting the freshness of foods and drinks. The resistance of the sensor is changed by exposure to odor from rotten sea foods such as oyster, squid, and sardine or fragrance from wine and coffee. It is found that the high sensitivity of the sensor to the odor from rotten sea foods is due to the high sensitivity of the sensor to trimethylamine in the odor.<>
