Abstract :
Bi-winding EMC chokes used in telephone equipment increase the peak wire voltages on fast rising surges. Two, choke actions cause this. Choke saturation suddenly releases extra surge energy to the equipment. In the differential mode the chokes transformer action creates larger inter-wire voltages. The paper quantifies this previously unreported affect
