Abstract :
In Japan, infrared beacons have been introduced and installed in urban road networks since 1993. Therefore, not only can we obtain UPLINK information from beacons and in-vehicle units, we can also gather traffic volume. Meanwhile these beacons are arranged around 20 m from the exit in each direction, so we are able to observe turning of each vehicle. In order to use these results for traffic signal control, we collected turning data of each vehicle that has an in-vehicle unit from UPLINK information and estimated the turn rate using traffic demand
