Abstract
A new configuration of a soft-switching power converter using phase-to-phase commutation is proposed. The topology of the phase-to-phase commutated inverter (PPCI) is derived from the auxiliary resonant commutated pole inverter. A control strategy is suggested and the principle of the PPCI operations is discussed. PPCI ensures switching at zero voltage across the working power transistors and zero current in the auxiliary switches. A comparative analysis of the losses in the inverter resonant circuits is made. Simulation calculations and experimental studies are also carried out.
