Abstract :
This paper describes an effort to determine the applicability of an airborne, wide-area Landmine Survey and Detection System for Humanitarian Demining (HD) applications. The work involved the integration of a ground penetrating radar (GPR) operating in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) mode onto a fully autonomous rotorcraft unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system called CAMCOPTER@. The integrated system is described as well as the SAR data processing methodology used. Flight tests of the system are described and examples of resultant SAFI imagery are presented.
