Abstract :
One of the most complexes problematic of ad hoc networks is routing, regarding the characteristics of these networks there is no effective and efficient protocol tacking into consideration all the aspects of ad hoc networks as mobility, power and bandwidth constraints. Another problem is the implementation of QoS which isn´t solved yet in ad hoc networks and it stills an active area of research until an effective routing protocol implementing QoS is designed. Therefore in this paper we try to propose a cross-layer design by which we present an improvement to Dynamic Source Routing protocol DSR, in which we include one of the aspects of ad hoc networks which is the bandwidth trying in this way to treat the aspect of QoS by proposing an algorithm of route selection based on the available bandwidth between each pear of intermediate nodes included in the route, to choose as route the one having the greatest available bandwidth. Simulation results shown in the last section proves that our version of DSR called Quality of Service Based DSR (QBDSR) gives best results regarding the end to end delay, number of route errors and the remainder of energy on each node after simulation.
