Abstract :
This paper presents the performance evaluation of different pulse shapes based on TOA estimation techniques for impulse-radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) systems. Three different pulse types complying to FCC mask such as the scaled monocycle pulse, the power optimized pulse and the jitter optimized pulse are considered. In this paper, we investigate two common transceiver schemes like the stored reference (SR) and the energy detection (ED) for comparing TOA estimation of these pulses. Moreover, we also consider the effect of timing jitter and various sampling rate on the SR technique. The simulations compare the system performance passed through the root mean square error (RMSE) of TOA estimation.
