Abstract :
As environmental regulations have become more stringent for hazardousness and recyclability of products in WEEE, RoHS and EuE, export-oriented Korean industries are showing more interests in ecodesign. The ecodesign system referred to as "Instep-DfE" we developed in this study is subject to electric and electronic industries, not only to cope with the regulations, but also to contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of products. Moreover, a number of databases are helpful to search useful information needed for product designers and system users. In Instep-DfE, the procedures of ecodesign are classified into product diagnosis, deriving ideas through design guide and optimum design selection, supported by quantitative and qualitative tools including Ecolist, simplified LCA/LCC, and recyclability assessment.
