Abstract :
This presentation offers ASON/GMPLS control plane status. Optical control plane has demonstrated benefits - applied to numerous SONET/SDH networks; limited by existing SONET/SDH operations infrastructure and cost. Future extension will support new transport network technologies; OTN, packet and WSON-OTN is being defined/deployed now ; packet (esp. MPLS-TP) and WSON still pending further work. Refinements being added to control plane itself; ASON extension to support transport vs. IP requirements; PCE to support multi-domain and scalability.
