Abstract :
Objective: Comparing the family environment, status of mental health and personality of medical students in poverty with those in non-poor medical students, discussing on family environment effects on mental health and personality of medical students in poverty. Method: Adopting family environment scale (FES-CV), Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ) to have investigation and analysis for 712 undergraduates. Result: The level of family environment, mental health and personality of the students in poverty is generally lower than that of the students in non poverty: The contradiction in family environment, intimacy and entertainment is closely related to the mental health and personality. The interpretation rate of regression equation is the highest in intimacy and contradiction but lowest in impendency and organization. Conclusion: The factor of family environment has effects on the level of mental health of the students in poverty in varying degree.
