Abstract :
The past decade has witnessed a transformation of EPON from a research novelty into a mainstream broadband access technology. As EPON wins new ground and replaces older technologies, more and more SDOs initiate projects to adopt and integrate EPON in the overall networking architecture developed by these groups. This paper discusses the current status of EPON standardization and the relationships among different standards organizations.
