Abstract :
A so-called industrial road within the city of Kagoshima had been frequented by traffic accidents due to speeding vehicles in the night-time. To prevent such accidents, the Kagoshima Prefectural Police HQ decided to adopt a new signal control setting scheme which makes it difficult for vehicles to travel by speeding. This paper introduces this new signal control setting scheme for speeding vehicle control and reports the results of field experiments conducted by the Police HQ to evaluate the effectiveness of the new signal control setting scheme
