Abstract :
Various epoch making consumer electronics products have been relying heavily on the rapid progress of semiconductor technology. This trend will be further stimulated under the dramatic change of the business and technical environment toward the 21st century. An overview of the present situation of consumer electronics and the impact of semiconductor technology on consumer products is presented. Also, the future trends in consumer electronics products are described from signal processing and system design point of view. Finally, the requirements for semiconductor device technology are indicated so that consumer electronics could keep the competitive edge of its products as the technology driver
