Abstract :
Video compression has been extensively used to reduce the data redundancy by preserving the required information. Mapping the image/video signal into the transform domain by itself does not lead to bit-rate reduction. At best, the mapping results in energy compaction in the low frequency range of the transform domain. An enhanced macroblock classification method is introduced which divides the frame into four classes so that it is easy to detect the picture, text, foreground and background. H.264 is aimed at achieving high quality video at low bit rates and obtain a high quality motion compensated output by maintaining a better compression ratio.
