Abstract
Horizontal diffusion analysis is an important method for studying the horizontal ecological process in landscape ecology. According to the requirement of urban landscape planning, this paper put forward the four-step procedure of point source horizontal diffusion analysis, discussed the analysis method on how to distinguish the buffer zone and establish the basic landscape pattern by using minimum cumulative resistance model and relation curve. Furthermore, it analyzed the characteristics of non-point source horizontal diffusion comprehensively and proposed the corresponding planning strategies for pollution control and noise reduction. Horizontal diffusion analysis can produce a series of spatial patterns rather than a single one. Armed with these patterns, designers, the public, and decision makers are provided with various possible solutions to the same landscape ecological issue.
