Abstract :
An example of how the services of the common management information service element (CMISE) might be applied to the network management function of configuring plain old telephone service (POTS) subscriber lines is provided. An information mode using object-oriented techniques is first developed and then services using CMISE are defined which support the functional requirements of configuration management. Although only POTS subscriber line configuration management is addressed, the tools and object-oriented techniques that are demonstrated can be applied to satisfy the needs of many applications of network management
