Abstract
To solve problems concerning interpretation of the long wire source of ground-airborne electromagnetic data, this article brings forward a method by splitting the long wire source into numbers of electric dipoles. It also discusses how different receiving heights influence electromagnetic response. That leads to when the receiving height is less than 30m; the response received on the ground is equivalent to the response received in the air after model calculation. According to conclusions and calculation method mentioned above, an algorithm with all time apparent resistivity and theoretical data forwarded from typical 3-layer model was used to test the validity of this method conversely. Under a specified condition of the receiving height of 30m, the results show that, if the source-receiver distance is less than 100m, the error is less than 10%, while in other cases, the error is within 5%.
