Abstract
The process of writing technical papers is examined from the prospective of both the engineer and industry. The motivation for working in any esoteric specialty centers around purpose fulfillment and colleague acceptance. This poses a management challenge, namely how to recognize the engineering writing environment and achieve the organization´s technical objectives in a way that also fulfills the writer´s needs. The engineer must believe that the effort of writing will be rewarded. Mentors, who encourage younger engineers, also need to be properly nurtured. Both the engineer and the employer benefit by gaining experience and exposure
