Abstract :
We took tree ring as the basic unit and applied trunk dye test to study the water transport pattern of Quercus Mongolica. The results showed that the capacity of water transport remarkably differed among tree rings of Q. Mongolica. The latest two rings were more capable of transporting water and inter-ring water transport was not detected. The water transport in longitudinal direction rises spirally anticlockwise with a swing degree of −30°/m. Within the same ring, the water transport to the top assumed a liner pattern with slightly transverse diffusion, which was not obvious. The effect of control the branch-borer Massicus raddei Blessig was not desirable through trunk injection. The reason was that the pesticide injected in the trunk could not effectively diffuse to the whole transverse section of the trunk, which reduced the probability of Massicus raddei Blessig contacting the pesticide.
