Abstract :
Historically, PJM and other control area operators have relied on generation resources only for ancillary services. Recently, however, technology and other improvements have enabled certain demand resources with the capability to participate as well, if not better, than generation as certain ancillary services. This paper is intended to explain how demand resources are being integrated into the PJM ancillary service markets.
